Biography
Tony Smith has over 40 years’ experience in border and immigration control, and is the only immigration officer to be promoted through the ranks to Director General. He holds the unique distinction of being Head of Ports and Borders in two different countries – Canada and the UK. He retired in March 2013 as Director General of the UK Border Force. Tony was awarded the CBE in the New Year’s Honours List 2013 for his services to the safety and security of the London 2012 Olympics. He is now a global consultant on leadership and border security.
